Alan Witschonke's newest book for Mikaya Press will be published this fall. Entitled
Taj Mahal, it is Alan’s fifth book for Mikaya, which specializes in non-fiction children’s literature.

“This series is on the man-made Wonders of the World. Beautifully written (by Elizabeth Mann) and designed (by Lesley Ehlers), it’s a treat to have an on-going relationship with this team, which includes Stuart Waldman, the publisher.”
“
Taj Mahal was a difficult project for me because I challenged myself to develop a new style specifically for this book, based on the art of the Mughal Empire, which was in power when the monument was built.”

“Similar to Persian miniatures, the illustrations are very detailed and took a long time to complete. But I loved pushing my design and compositional skills and creating a hybrid of Eastern and Western perspective. The medium I used was watercolor dyes so that I could achieve a high degree of color saturation and brilliance.”
